Learning to play the drums at a young age is a good idea. If you’re child is showing signs of having rhythm, bashing on pots and pans, tapping along to music etc it’s a good sign that they could go on to develop into a great drummer.
Almost all of the worlds greatest drummers started at a very young age. Starting to learn the coordination skills and being exposed to different music and rhythms at a young age helps build a “musical brain” which can then go on to soak up all the technical skills and musical knowledge that makes a great drummer.
So if you’re child is over the age of six and is showing an interest in drumming and music then get them some drum lessons from a good teacher.
You never know you could have the next Jeff Porcaro or Buddy Rich in the family!
