I was trying for a couple of days to figure out how to record audio from an app on my iPad to my computer so I can access it without having to be in the app and connected to the net. I also didn’t want to spend money on audio digital interfaces and cables etc
Here’s an easy way to do it…
First of all download the free Airfoil Satellite for Mac and install. (If you want to record longer than 10 minutes then you’ll need to pay for the full version of Airfoil ($25.00US)
Open the app on your Mac then go to Airplay on your iOS device and choose your Mac. (Make sure you’re connected on the same network) You are now streaming audio TO your Mac!
Now you need a way of recording that audio cleanly, recording from mic input will be bad quality. I have a Mac app call Piezo which you can try for free but is only $19.00 US and is a really great little app for recording from any source on your Mac. Choose Airfoil as your audio source in Piezo and record your audio streaming from your iOS device.
I think the volume needs bit of boost so I use Amadeus Pro to do that and trim the edges of the tracks. That’s it. Good quality audio capture from iOS to Mac without cables.
I’m sure a similar route could be found for Windows machines too but I haven’t tested that.
Hope this helps if you’re trying to do the same.
