Have you ever though you might like to play there drums but think you are too old to learn? Well you wouldn’t be alone. I often have call from older people asking if they are too old and I can honestly say that as long as you can move all four limbs and can maintain focus for a half hour or so then you can learn to play the drums.
The health benefits from learning to play the drums are well researched and proven, these can be especially beneficial in older people helping to keep the brain active and help with coordination issues and balance. Aside from this it’s just a very fun and rewarding activity. My oldest student so far has been 84 and my dear friend Edna learnt almost the entire Eagles catalogue (her favourite group) and realised a lifelong ambition to play which brought her great joy and purpose in her twilight years.
If you are interested in learning online I’ll help you get all the technical side of that setup, offer advise on buying an instrument that won’t create too much noise for your neighbours and get you started on your journey. As always the first lesson is free. If you are in the upper Central Coast area you are welcome at my studio for face to face lessons.
I hope to see you soon!
